The largest Valencian company, Mercadona, already has disbursed the aid it announced for the people on its staff who have been affected by the effects of the tragic DANA on October 29 in 75 municipalities in the province of Valencia. Mercadona has allocated a total of 40 million euros completely lost for this purpose.
As reported by the company chaired by Juan Roig, all the workers in the chain affected by DANA have received the aid that the company decided to promote a week ago in their bank account today. An initiative that according to Mercadona has been carried out “with the aim that they would not have to start rebuilding their lives from scratch.”
In total, around 1,000 workers are those who have been affected by the catastrophe to different degrees. Each of them has received a net amount that has been quantified depending on the damage suffered whether in their own homes or in their vehicles.
In this way, the distribution company has contributed up to 50,000 euros for the total or partial loss of the home. I also contemplated 25,000 euros for total or partial damage to furniture and contents of homesin addition to help from 5,000 euros in cases where there had been less serious damage in household goods.
In the case of vehicles, the amounts also depended on the asset affected. Mercadona has paid up to 15,000 euros to workers who have lost their cars, 5,000 euros if it is a motorcycle and 500 euros if the destroyed vehicle is an electric scooter or a bicycle.
The initiatives
The distribution company assures that “it will continue to do whatever is necessary to help Valencia recover its economic and social activity.” The company itself has seen several of its stores in the southern part of the metropolitan area affected, in addition to one of its main logistics blocks, the one located in Ribarroja.
Among the actions that the Valencian supermarket chain is carrying out, it has already exceeded the figure of 300 tons of food and essential products delivered to social entities that serve those affected by the effects of DANA in the Valencian Community.
Juan Roig, through Navy Companiesthe entrepreneurship and innovation hub promoted by Juan Roig, the Valencian businessman has launched the Alcem-se platform aimed at helping SMEs, businesses, startups and the self-employed affected by Dana. This initiative has a total endowment of 25 million euros contributed by the president of Mercadona himself.
