CD Numancia paid tribute to the former coach of the 2010-2011 season Juan Carlos Unzué, who made public months ago that he suffers from the ALS disease, being one of the leaders in making this pathology known as well as the search for financing for its diagnosis and treatment. The ex-footballer and soccer coach performed the kick-off of the match between the team from Soria and El Prat. The whole day on Sunday was special since Unzué was accompanied by managers and workers from his time in Soria. Precisely the Soria team was the first where Unzué faced the challenge of being the head of a professional club, since he arrived after his time as goalkeeper coach for FC Barcelona since 2003.
That season, 2010-2011, was significant and is that when Juan Carlos Unzué was introduced as coach of Numancia, 80% of the squad had been set up since May. In sports, Unzué ended the season leaving the team in tenth position with 57 points, although what marked that year was the game. Unzué arrived in Soria with the idea of a touch and possession football that Barça were marking. An idea that did not end up curdling in the fans although, to be honest, Unzué was the pioneer since later that idea came with as many other coaches.
In sports, Numancia won 2-1 thanks to own goals from Tamayo and Pau, while for AD El Prat Kuku scored. In this way, the reds remain at the top of the classification as they are second in group III of the 2 RFEF.
