Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe won his battle with the French Football Federation over image rights, after the French Football Federation announced that the agreement with the French players had been “modified”.
A dispute has erupted between Mbappe and the French Football Association since last March, when he refused to appear in a photo session for the players of the French first team, and Mbappe was keen to control more of his image rights, to avoid association with certain brands, but Noel Le Graet, president of the French Football Federation. He failed to reach an agreement with the player’s representatives during a meeting between them last June.
Le Graet told L’Equipe that there is enough time to achieve the desired changes before the World Cup, as Mbappe’s team confirmed that he had decided to boycott a photo session scheduled for Tuesday, on the sidelines of the players’ gathering in preparation for meeting Austria and Denmark in the European Nations League, but after a meeting that brought together the members of the Federation. French Football Association, it was decided to accept Mbappe’s requests.
“After crucial talks in the presence of the French national team executives, the president of the federation, the coach and the director of marketing, the French Football Federation has pledged as soon as possible to review the original agreement on the image rights of the selected players,” the French Football Federation said in a statement.
“The French Football Federation is pleased to work on the outlines of the new agreement, which will guarantee its interests, taking into account the legitimate concerns and condemnations expressed by the players unanimously,” the statement added.
