Mazda will soon receive a new top model, the CX-60. Positioning itself above the current CX-5, the new SUV crossover will inaugurate the brand’s new Large Product Group platform in Europe, which will be used for a second model within the next two years. The new model will primarily be Mazda’s first plug-in hybrid and promises a combined power of 300 hp, the highest power of all European models from Hiroshima.
Plug-in hybrid
In addition to its new architecture, the new Mazda CX-60 will also introduce a new plug-in hybrid powertrain, a first for the brand. The drive unit consists of a naturally aspirated, 2.5-liter four-cylinder in-line petrol and an electric motor that together produce a power of 300 hp.
We will have to wait until March 8 and the official presentation of the model to know the details of the respective power of the gasoline and the electric motor, the capacity of the battery pack and the payload. Mazda is already saying that this plug-in hybrid is designed to provide powerful yet smooth acceleration. We don’t yet know what the range in all-electric mode will be.

Inspired by the CX-50
At the moment Mazda is sticking to a photo that shows only part of a gaping grille with a dark chrome surround, as well as a headlamp in the same style as that of the New CX-50 . launched in North AmericaSo we can expect an evolution of the style we know from the Mazda 3, CX-30 and CX-5 – which has received a new facelift – with slightly more muscular lines and a more dynamic posture.

The CX-60 was thus designed on the new Large Product Group platform and still follows the Skyactiv principles dear to the Japanese constructor. Its architecture will be shared in Europe with the future CX-80 and in the rest of the world with the CX-70 and CX-9. Mazda says that the CX-80 will have a third row of seats, but does not say whether it is a configuration with 6 or 7 seats. The CX-60 is expected to have a conventional 5-seat layout.
