There is currently a flagship in the production of Stellantis globally: the brand Maserati. It’s nice that such a historic Italian brand is growing, first of all; but the level it can reach in the future is even more interesting, when eventually the componentry crisis will end.
According to reports from the union FIM-CISLMaserati has good prospects in both production plants in which it has an active presence: Mirafiori and Modena. In particular, this last location, in the heart of the Motor Valley, is experiencing a very positive period. Maserati production at the Modena site reached 610 units in the first half of 2022 (+ 48.8% vs 2021). Consistent growth due to the MC20 model, which saw its production launch in April 2021. The growth in volumes allowed the saturation of production capacity, eliminating the use of social safety nets already in 2021. According to projections, it is very likely that in the course of 2022 the threshold of 1,000 Maserati MC20s produced will be exceeded. Consequently, the indiscretion is that of a increase in the Maserati workforce: great news.
It must be remembered that in Modena there are 200 people on the production lines and another 900, on engineering tasks, who work for all the Stellantis companies.
Among other things, in the Emilian city, by 2025, a full electric version will also be born, on the Folgore platform. There is room for a complete electrical renewal of the production site, and therefore the ambitions are strong. However, Maserati is also present in Mirafiori, with Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte all produced there on a production shift since 17 January 2022. For the Turin plant, Maserati represents 20% of total production, while all the rest of the work is absorbed by the electric Fiat 500 (at the end of 2022 the ‘small’ battery-powered one should reach 70,000 units produced). The three Maserati models have reached the six-month share of 9,930 units produced. On the Maserati line they are making an appearance, undergoing testingthe new Gran Turismo and Gran Cabriowith production start-up expected towards the end of the second half of 2022. The full-electric version is already scheduled for 2023, to which the E / E + sedan models (current segment of Ghibli and Quattroporte) and Levante will be replaced from 2024.
