The veteran voice actor doesn’t want to break away from Mario.
Few things are more difficult than imagining Mario without the voice of Charles Martinet, who has played the iconic plumber for more than a quarter of a century, as well as many other Nintendo characters such as Luigi or Wario.
Now, the charismatic actor has commented on the Fan Expo Canada who would like to continue playing Mario for many more years: “I want to give Mario a voice until he dies. If one day I think I won’t be able to do it, I’ll tell Nintendo to find someone elseAt the event, a fan also asked him which character from the Mario universe he would eliminate, to which he replied that it would be impossible for him to get rid of any of them, adding that he likes this world as it is.
Although we will probably continue to listen to Martinet for many more years in the various video games starring Mario and company, next year the first animated film of the character will be released, where the Nintendo icon will be played by Chris Pratt (Jurassic World, Guardians of the Galaxy ), a decision that has caused a lot of turmoil in the networks.
Even after his death, Martinet could still continue to give Mario a voice: “I hope Mario will still be there after I’m gone. However, there are over five million audio files in which I give the voice to Mario. I walk into the studio and record 45 types of sounds that come to mind, so I won’t completely disappear for a long time!“.
