Proverbially speaking, braking sounds like the most obvious choice when you see a speed camera. Literally the most obvious is to use your finger. This German driver opted for this and that is now costing him dearly.
The German police posted the flash photo on facebook which clearly shows that the driver is showing his longest finger. The speeding fine was too hard for 10 km/h and would have cost him only 20 bucks. However, the court in Germany ruled that this was an insult to an official in office and the fine was increased to 1,200 euros.
The man did not regret the middle finger on the flash photo
We also suspect that the driver deliberately drove past the speed camera with his middle finger up. Maybe to score a photo or because he was mad at the police, we don’t know. “The man showed no regrets, nor did he offer any apology,” police said.
In the message, the police say: ‘We are not flashing people to rip people off, but to increase road safety. That’s why we are next to roads that are known to be used for speeding or where there are dangerous situations. We are near schools and kindergartens and where the residents want us because they tell us about speeders. We do this for the safety of all road users – but we won’t be offended.’
