The Liwa Dates Auction in its fourth session, organized by the Cultural and Heritage Programs and Festivals Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, concluded the activities of its second station, which was held in Majlis Al Bateen, in cooperation with the Councils Affairs Office at the Crown Prince Court in Abu Dhabi.
Director of the Planning and Projects Department in the Committee, Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, said that the committee seeks, through the activities of the “Liwa Dates Auction”, to contribute effectively to preserving the folklore and authentic Arab traditions, in addition to supporting farmers, so that the UAE remains at the fore in various economic, cultural and heritage fields. and others.
He added that the auction was able to attract a large number of people interested in luxurious Emirati dates and people wishing to purchase their annual needs of dates, in addition to attracting more owners of palm farms and date dealers, and thus the auction reached its goal in spreading awareness among various segments of society about the importance of palm cultivation, and the types of palm trees. The dates for which the UAE is famous, and raising awareness of the best date packaging methods, by offering dates at auction in special packages and wrapped according to the highest standards and practices, while preserving our authentic heritage and passing it on to future generations.
On November 17 and 20, the Committee for the Management of Festivals and Cultural and Heritage Programs organized date auctions in the Majlis Al Mushrif and Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi, which witnessed a turnout of those wishing to purchase dates from the residents and visitors of the UAE, with the participation of the owners of palm farms in the country, who presented the finest types of luxury dates from Local production for the year 2021, according to the precautionary measures and guidelines to maintain the safety of all.
