Belgian champion Wout van Aert, absent from the Tour of Flanders due to covid-19, will be present at the start of Paris-Roubaix on Sunday with a secondary role as a domestique, his team, Jumbo, announced on Thursday.
The Belgian received the green light to participate in the race, “after exhaustive tests”, specified the Dutch team, which evoked a “carefully matured decision”.

Molano, the Colombian face
“Wout’s health is doing very well. But, after a week of isolation, the best form is obviously not possible,” estimated team manager Merijn Zeeman. “It’s anything but ideal preparation. It doesn’t mean that a rider like Wout can still play a role, for example supporting Christophe Laporte, Mike Teunissen or Nathan Van Hooydonck,” he noted.
The competition will be without champion Sonny Colbrelli, who is absent from the roads with a heart problem.
The only Colombian registered so far is Juan Sebastián Molano, who will be part of the UAE mirates team.
And the only cyclist in the country to finish it has been Leonardo Duque, in 2011 and 2012.
