Leipzig coach Jesse Marsh called on his team to overcome the team’s poor start to the season, before facing Freiburg, one of the surprises of the current season in the German Football League “Bundesliga”.
Leipzig won the last two matches in the league to jump to eighth place, five points behind Freiburg in fourth place, the only team that did not lose any game in the season, and will open its new stadium in that confrontation.
Leipzig, the runner-up in the league last season, needs to achieve a positive result to boost the morale of its players before facing Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, as the German team lost its first two matches in the group stage against Manchester City and Club Brugge of Belgium.
“Saturday’s match is very important for us, and with all due respect to Freiburg’s awakening, we need to win and give our best performance of the season,” Marsh said in an interview with reporters, today, Thursday.
Marsh added that Christopher Nkunku and Nordi Mukele are ready for the match, although they did not complete the team’s training on Wednesday.
Leipzig managed to win six of their 10 games against Freiburg, including a 3-0 win last season, but Freiburg beat RB Leipzig at home in 2018 and 2019, while coach Christian Streiche was praised by Marsh.
“The team is not only strong that season, but they also have a great group and they are always dangerous from set-pieces,” said Marsh, who described Stretch as an excellent coach.
