Last Thursday (17) the governor of São Paulo João Doria (PSDB) announced that the mandatory use of masks in closed environments was suspended. In addition to São Paulo, several states and cities are already making the use of equipment more flexible two years after the beginning of the pandemic.
It turns out that in places with a lot of agglomeration, such as public transport and health units, the obligation is still valid, which will mean that citizens will still have to walk with masks for a while. But how to store reusable masks safely?
+Masks become optional in schools in SP; some units recommend use
The first advice from experts is not to attach the mask to your chin or arm, as the droplets in the environment can cause the virus to stay inside the equipment.
Crushing it to put it in your pocket is also not a good idea, as it can bend and make the part that was in contact with your face contact the outside of the mask. The ideal is to always leave it stretched.
Another advice is to always keep a small plastic or paper bag in the bag, so that the mask is stored correctly. Ideally, the elastic is on the outside of the bag or envelope.
Another tip is that the mask is always very well closed on your face, without them being loose either on the nose or on the side.
But is it still necessary to wear a mask on public transport? Yes, according to a study by Fiocruz carried out in Recife (PE) in 2021, bus terminals are the places with the highest risk of catching the disease. Of the positive samples found at the time, 48.7% were in these locations. Buses, trains and subways, as they are places that often do not allow for greater distance, should be the last establishments in which the mandatory mask should be relaxed.
