Mazatlan. – A warm night at the Teodoro Mariscal hosted the first game of the Pink Series between Venados de Mazatlán and Mayos de Navojoa of the Mexican Pacific ARCO League 2022-2023, where the reds’ woods were off, and the momentum of the sonorenses gave them an important 3-1 victory.
The game
Three retired in a row to the three first three Mayos batters, the Venados offense got to work from their first at-bat. With Randy Romero already on base, Félix Pérez hit a powerful double that crashed into the wall and sent Randy to third, so that Luis Jiménez later raised a sacrifice hit and the race fell first for the Mazatlan team.
Two innings would pass where Casey Herman did his good job with the reds, however, at the dawn of the fourth inning those from Navojoa would find their fortune on the diamond. Miguel Guzmán began to walk the bases until he reached third, and thanks to a hit by Ian Sagdal that ended in out at first, he was able to reach the promised land to even the score 1-1.
Mayos’ momentum did not end there, and in the fifth inning they would hit the reds again, when Guzmán appeared again as the protagonist by hitting a base hit; then an error by pitcher Harman took him to third, and an Alan Espinoza hit to the outfield sent Miguel Guzmán to the register for 2-1.
In the sixth came another little line to the tiger (3-1) for the visitors, now thanks to a ground ball by ex-Venados Carlos Muñoz to the open field that drove Ian Sagdal from second to home plate.
Both the seventh, eighth and ninth innings went off without major shocks, closing the score with the final 3-1 in favor of Navojoa, highlighting the Mayos defense, which relentlessly withdrew a total of 20 Venados in a row.
