Kim Kardashian recently did a tour with Vogue of her new(ish) home. Kim and Kayne bought their Calabasas home in 2017 but didn’t officially move in as the house wasn’t completed. We all know what happened between Kim and Kayne (Kayne won’t let us forget), so how has she made her Calabasas home into her own? Well, she gave Vogue exclusive access to some of the parts of her home she wanted them to see.
Naturally, she didn’t show all of her home, and why would she, considering she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, and many people blamed her for having her flashy jewelry on show all the time. But, she did give us a juicy insight into her somewhat monotone home. Let’s explore.
Her Art Collection
There are some pricey things involved in moving home; buying the house, moving fees, decorating, investing in home insurance, but we bet Kayne would say that Kim’s collection of North’s art is the most priceless item within the home.
North famously painted a stunning piece of art that circulated across social media pages and, indeed, meme pages, as it seemed impossible for North to have painted it at the time. But, low and behold, she did, and Kim says it’s one of the best pieces of artwork in her house. Kim has expensive pieces of art designed by the likes of Axel Vervoordt – so that’s saying something for little North’s talents.
North’s artwork in the tour brought more memes to life with a dark and somewhat evil drawing she created during covid, which almost looked demonic – Kim said it must have been her emo phase. Supportive mom points for Kim because we’d be terrified.
Her Neutral Decor
One thing that really stands out – and Kim herself points out – is how much she likes neutral decor. Even the clothes she’s wearing in the video are neutral. In fact, all of the Kardashian clan – apart from Kourtney, who is now turning emo herself thanks to fiance Travis Barker – are obsessed with the simplicity of neutral tones. Even Kim’s new $95 million private plane has a neutral decor.
Still, Kim spearheaded the neutral vibe tribe and even went as far as to ensure the basketball court she designed for her children in the garden matched her neutral interior decor, and it did. Even the basketball hoop was a cream/beige tone – it doesn’t get more boujee than that. But we have to say: the neutral tones are fabulous. It keeps the house looking clean, tidy, and somewhat uniform. Or perhaps that’s the team of cleaners and maids that Kim no doubt has poised at the ready to keep the home spic and span.
The Bedrooms That Aren’t So Neutral
Kim is very much a neutral woman. Neutral clothes, neutral hair, and a neutral face ready to be papped at any minute. Kim has definitely learned her lesson by crying or pulling other weird faces in public. But where she does allow some creativity and color within her home is in the kid’s bedrooms.
She explains how she lets her brood have full control over the color scheme in their bedrooms – and North took it to the extreme. North went all out pink – perhaps only to annoy her mom – while the others have purple, blue, and one has dinosaurs. Any TikTok fans might have caught a glimpse of North’s pink paradise bedroom on her TikTok account that she shares with the Kardashian queen.
Her Flashy Car Collection
It felt very “hello, MTV, welcome to my crib” of Kim, but she led the camera crew outside where she had lined up three of her favorite cars. In true Kim style, all three of the cars had been wrapped and sprayed to an all-gray finish. Kim tells Vogue how she loves them all, but the flashy all-gray Maybach is her most prized possession.
Kim said the reason behind her neutral and solid tone choices is because there is so much chaos in the world, so when she comes home, she likes to feel at peace.
There you have it, a snapshot into the home of one of the Kardashians and arguably the most boujee Kardashian. Kim really knows how to keep it simple yet create a home that oozes class and style. No doubt she had a helping hand, of course.
