Helsinki the district court has sentenced a man who transported rescue dogs to Finland in very poor conditions to a suspended prison sentence.

There were 32 dogs in the car driven by the man on the way from Moscow to Finland via the Baltic States. A total of ten dogs died of heat-related symptoms due to transport.

The man was sentenced to a year’s conditional imprisonment for a gross animal protection crime. He was also banned from keeping animals for five years.
