Juan Carlos Osorio, on the charge: he felt betrayed by the Federation

Juan Carlos Osorio has given something to talk about for his constant statements. Now, he returned to refer to what was his frustrated arrival at the Colombian National Team.

The coach, a former coach of America, spoke with ESPN Fútbol América about an episode he experienced in 2018, during the World Cup in Russia, when he was coach of Mexico, where the boards sought him out to reach the tricolor.

“In the World Cup in Russia, the authorities of the Colombian Federation approached me and promised me the position of coach of the National Team and of course, as a Colombian I am proud,” said Osorio.

“When we beat Germany, then we faced Brazil and the Mexicans changed their point of view, they wanted me to stay. A lot of people don’t know it, but after Germany’s win they offered me another four years. But my decision was to resign. I was very naive, I believed in the Colombian Federation, in the executives and the bosses and that, in the end, played against my career”, added the coach.

Finally, he assured that he was wrong in his decision. “They decided on another coach and that’s why I think it was my biggest mistake to leave Mexico, where I was having a very good soccer career and with another four-year cycle we would have had good results,” he said.
