Journalism | JSN does not take up the oldest stories of Aamulehti's ex-editor Kuusela on its own initiative

A private person has complained to the council about Aamulehti's decision to remove Kuusela's articles from the internet.

Public The word council (JSN) does not take the former editor of Aamulehti into consideration on its own initiative Matti Kuuselan the oldest stuff, said the chairman of JSN Eero Hyvönen for STT on Wednesday.

The Council decided at its meeting that it will first look at the results of the report on Kuusela's affairs commissioned by Aamulehti. Aamulehti has cheated a media researcher Maria Lassila-Merisalon to find out the veracity of Kuusela's stories.

A complaint has been made to JSN about Aamulehti's decision to remove Kuusela's articles from the internet pending an investigation. Hyvönen says that the council will discuss the complaint at the end of summer meeting, and in this context, according to him, they will see if there is a reason for other actions.

“But it seems to us that the investigation is progressing. It has taken steps in the right direction regarding the matter.”

According to Hyvönen, after the investigation is completed, JSN will be able to make a decision on the complaint.

An individual the complaint made concerns whether it was wrong to remove hundreds of Kuusela's articles from the internet. According to the complainant, this violates good journalistic practice.

However, according to Hyvönen, the complaint was made at such an early stage that there was no clarity yet on how Aamulehti is going to start sorting out the material and returning it to the network.

Kuusela himself had stated in his book that he has also used sepite in his stories.
