With the Spaniard in first place on the grid, the Italian from Ducati will start eighth, four places behind the Frenchman from Yamaha, the only one who aspires to take the MotoGP World Championship from him
Spanish Ducati rider Jorge Martín took pole position at the Comunidad Valenciana Grand Prix, the last of the season, while championship leader Francesco Bagnaia, also of Ducati, will start eighth on the grid, four places behind the behind Yamaha’s Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, the only one who aspires to snatch the MotoGP World Championship from him.
Martín took his fifth pole of the season with a time of 1:29.621 to overtake Honda’s Marc Márquez, who recovered from illness to qualify second. They will be joined on the front row by Jack Miller in his last race with Ducati.
“I felt super good in terms of pace today… With a hard front tire I feel much better,” said Martin after taking his third consecutive pole position.
Reigning world champion Quartararo was fourth fastest and will have Suzuki’s Álex Rins and Aprilia’s Maverick Viñales on the second row. Bagnaia will start behind KTM’s Brad Binder, while also having Martin’s teammate Johann Zarco alongside him.
The Italian, who has accumulated seven wins this season, has 258 points, while Quartararo has 235 ahead of the decisive match for the title at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Cheste. The Ducati rider has overcome a deficit of 91 points to stay with a 23 advantage.
