James Rodriguez made his debut with the Rayo Vallecano from Spain, in the 3-1 victory over Osasuna, with goals from Senegalese Abdul Mumin, Romanian right-back Andrei Ratiu and midfielder Unai López.
According to the criteria of
Inigo PerezRayo’s coach, reacted in the best way after the short performance of James, leader of the Colombian National Team.
“I’m delighted that he’s here. The welcome has been excellent, there’s a lot of excitement about him, but he’s just another player,” said the Navarrese coach.

He added: “He has just come from a long period of inactivity and I make changes based on what I think, but he will surely start playing more regularly. When he came off it was a time when a coach can choose to overprotect himself by bringing out a player profile or bringing out a number nine (Sergi Guardiola) and James.”
Pérez told reporters at the press conference what he asked of the Colombian midfielder at the end of the match.
“They are both specialists in playing with a back mark and I asked them to keep the ball and hold on to it and do damage,” he said.
“Both are ours in the sense of seeking victory. With the first goal they have the game on track because they scored a goal against us in something they dominate and that is a bit of Osasuna’s DNA. We were not good in terms of what is needed to play in the First Division, but in the Second Division we tried to correct that and it worked out well for us,” concluded the coach.
