The reason was the attack suffered by Vice President Cristina Kirchner on Thursday (1st.set.2022)
The Itamaraty said that it postponed the celebration that would be held in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, to commemorate the 7th of September. The event was scheduled for Friday (September 2, 2022). The reason for the postponement was the attack suffered by Vice President Cristina Kirchner on Thursday (1st.set.2022).
“The postponement is confirmed, motivated by what happened and also due to the isolation of the streets in the region of the Embassy, which is less than 5 blocks from the place of the aggression against the vice president”says the note from the Itamaraty.

Brazilian suspect
The Brazilian suspected of trying to shoot Cristina has a criminal record. The information is from the Argentine newspaper Clarinciting Security Minister Aníbal Fernández as a source.
As the newspaper reports, in March 2021, Fernando Andrés Sabag Montiel, 35, was prosecuted for misdemeanor. He was arrested for carrying a 35 cm knife.
At the time, he would have been approached by the police of the city of La Paternal, in the metropolitan region of Buenos Aires, for driving a car without a license plate. The suspect claimed to be the owner of the vehicle and claimed to have lost the license plate in a traffic stop days before.
During the search, the officers asked Sabag Montiel to open the passenger door. Upon complying with the order, the knife dropped. The Brazilian stated that the object was for his personal defense. The infraction was recorded and he was released.
Also according to the Argentine newspaper, the suspect works as an app driver and has a Chevrolet Prisma registered in his name (the same model that appears in the process). The Brazilian has lived in Argentina since 1993.
refuses to testify
The accused of the attack on Cristina refused to testify on Friday (2.Sep.2022). At the hearing, Montiel would have heard the reading of the facts and the crime of which he is accused (attempted murder).
Afterwards, he complained of a blow to the eye, which he would have received when he was removed from the scene of the attack, shortly after trying to shoot Cristina Kirchner in the head. Afterwards, he refused to answer questions.
Argentine police are investigating whether the Brazilian acted alone or whether there are more involved in the attack. So far, Montiel is the only accused.
