Yesterday, Saturday, a military spokesman revealed that the Egyptian army thwarted a terrorist attack on a water pumping station in the east of the Suez Canal.
According to the military spokesman, a group of takfiri elements attacked the water lifting point east of the Suez Canal, noting that “the elements assigned to work at the point clashed and confronted the attack, which resulted in the death of an officer and 10 soldiers, and the injury of 5 individuals.”
The attack, which occurred on Saturday, is one of the most violent in recent years in North Sinai, where the Egyptian security forces are cracking down on militants linked to the extremist organization.
In the wake of the terrorist incident, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed law enforcement officials to complete the purification of some areas in North Sinai from terrorist and takfiri elements, as well as to continue implementing all security measures that contribute to eliminating terrorism in all its forms.
