intel stated its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2022 and for all the last have, which are not positive at all. Indeed, in Q4 the revenues are collapsed by 32% year over year, for a total of $14 billion in revenue. Combined losses were $661 million for the reported fiscal quarter, or -114% of net profits year-over-year. Overall, the data are those expected by the company, albeit in the most pessimistic hypothesis of the previous projections.
The bad result was caused by the same factors that led to the collapse of other technological giants, such as Microsoft: the increase in sales during the pandemic has pushed to increase investments ending up creating huge holes now that the market has returned to more normal levels and is stabilising. Moreover, the stabilization is pointing downwards due to the slowdown of the entire global economy, which is pushing consumers towards more weighted purchases.
To these factors must be added others more peculiar to Intel, such as the delay in the launch of some new products, such as the server platform Sapphire Rapidswhich reduced sales.
For 2022 as a whole, Intel’s revenue fell 20% to $63.1 billion, with profits down 60%. Despite this they still remain positive, given that we are talking about 8 billion dollars for the current fiscal year.
