The start of in-person voting in the caucuses that this Sunday will define the PSDB pre-candidate for the presidency of the Republic was postponed from 8 am to 9 am.
From this time onwards, members from all over the country will be authorized to attend the electronic voting machines installed at the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center, in Brasília. Toucans can also vote remotely through an app that has already been released since 7 am.
The main candidates in the internal dispute are the governor of São Paulo, João Doria, and of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite. Former Manaus mayor Arthur Virgílio is also in the running, but is not considered competitive.
Voting, both in person and remotely, will close at 3 pm and the result should be announced around 5 pm by the national president of the PSDB, Bruno Araújo.
The forecast is that Doria, Leite and Virgílio will arrive at the PSDB event around 9 am. At 10:10 am, Bruno Araújo will officially open and pay homage to Bruno Covas, mayor of São Paulo who died in May while in office, and Firmino Filho, former mayor of Teresina who died in April.
At 11:00 am, senator José Aníbal (PSDB-SP) leads the panel “Challenges for post-pandemic Brazil”. The congressman was the target of criticism by Doria’s team yesterday afternoon after leaving the coordination of the preliminaries to support Leite’s candidacy.
