In Belarus, the modernized T-72 was equipped with a “stove” to protect against Javelin anti-tank systems
The modernized Belarusian T-72 tank received a special “stove” designed to protect the vehicle from the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile system (ATGM). Photo of the tank published Telegram-channel bmpd.
Lattice screens provide protection for the rear of the turret and tank hull. Also, the T-72 was equipped with additional protection for the roof of the tower. The modified T-72 received an improvised stove on a pipe attached to the stern of the machine. It is noted that this device should take the Javelin missile with a thermal guidance head away from the tank.
The FGM-148 Javelin ATGM was adopted by the US Army in 1996. The complex consists of a command-launch unit and a consumable shot with a missile, which is equipped with an infrared homing head.
