Currently, the minimum monthly payment for caring for a child under one and a half years is 7,083 rubles, the maximum – 29,600 rubles. However, from February 1, 2022, the minimum allowance for caring for the first child will increase by 5.8 percent from 7083 rubles to 7494 rubles. The maximum payment amount will be 31,282 rubles.

In addition, from February 1, 2022, the lump sum for the birth of a child will be indexed, the amount of which is currently 18,886 rubles. It will also increase by 5.8 percent and amount to 19,981 rubles. In addition, the size of maternity capital will increase next year. The estimated payments for the first child will be 503,237 rubles, and for the second – 665,009 rubles, but in the event that the payment for the first has not been received.
Expenditures on the payment of maternity benefits in 2022 will also increase and will reach 132.8 billion rubles. Now the minimum payment for childbirth is 58,878 rubles, for complicated delivery – 65,607 rubles. The maximum amount of payments is 379,743 rubles. In case of multiple pregnancies, the benefits amount to 81,589 rubles and 472,245 rubles, respectively.
The monthly childcare allowance is paid in the amount of 40 percent of the insured person’s average earnings. Moreover, it should not be lower and not higher than the established minimum and maximum levels.
As Yulia Finogenova, professor of the Department of Finance and Prices at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, explained, most of the benefits, for example, for pregnancy and childbirth, depend on the size of the minimum wage. This year the minimum wage is 12 792 rubles.
“From 2022 it will amount to 13,617 rubles. The indexation coefficient of social payments and benefits will be 4.3 percent. This is a predictive indicator, ”the expert noted.
In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin expanded the age limit for one-time aid for families of schoolchildren. At a meeting with members of the government, he instructed to issue 10 thousand rubles each this year, even if the children went to school at the age of six, and not at seven. About 170 billion rubles will be spent on payments. The decree on a lump sum payment of 10 thousand rubles to families with children aged 6 to 18 in August-December 2021 was signed by the President on July 2.
Later, the Accounts Chamber of Russia proposed to make payments to families with schoolchildren annually for the new academic year. It is clarified that the amount of the allowance will be 20 thousand rubles. It will be paid from maternity capital funds. According to the Accounting Chamber, the federal budget expenditures for such child benefits will amount to about 60 billion rubles a year.
