“My mind and me” is the title of Selena Gómez’s new single, but it is also the title of her biographical documentary in which she reveals the problems that afflicted her throughout her artistic career and the emotional crisis, in addition to her health problems, that she developed root of it.
The production premiered on November 4, 2022 via Apple TV +, and in this the former Disney girl showed that it is worth nothing to have all the success in the world, to have sold almost seven million copies of her albums, if you do not you feel happy with yourself.
The singer narrates in just over an hour and a half the crisis she suffered throughout her more than 20 years of artistic career. “Everything I have wanted I have had and done, but that has killed me”says Selena.
Likewise, the interpreter of “Hit the lights” was diagnosed with Lupus in 2015, for which she needed a liver transplant, after which she developed a picture of depression and anxiety crisis with suicidal thoughts, as confirmed in an interview with Rolling Stones, before the premiere of the documentary.
The lags of working as a child
Selena Gomez, who was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder, mentioned the impact she had after starting to work at the age of 7 on the Barney show. “I started very young, and for me it was very important,” she said.
Also, in another excerpt from the trailer, the actress highlighted an interview in which she felt that she was not being listened to and revealed that this is how she felt when she was a Disney girl. “I don’t want to be my past (…) It makes me feel like I’m worthless”he said at the beginning.
“He asked me good questions, but then he didn’t pay attention to my answers, it makes me feel like a product, I started to get angry… You know, it made me feel like I was in Disney! What you spend that during these years, years! I have tried hard not to be that anymore,” she added.
Her wishes to become a mother
Selena Gómez was also encouraged to comment on her desire to become a mother, but that the medications she takes would disable that possibility. On the other hand, she narrated that the absence of her father, Joel, marked her.
“I can’t imagine how much pressure my dad was under… he regrets it a lot. He would say ‘forgive me my daughter, I don’t know how to talk to you’, but she made me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world, as if she could do anything and nobody deserved me. So I miss him a lot, but he knows it,” she expressed.
