SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Pharmaceutical group Hypera predicted on Thursday that its Ebitda will increase by around 24% in 2022, as it has been gaining market share and synergies with the integration of the operations acquired from Takeda.
Hypera forecast for this year net revenue of around 7.4 billion reais (an increase of 8.8% over 2021), approximate Ebitda of 2.6 billion reais (+23.8%) and net income around 1.7 billion reais (+5%).
The company also estimated a sell-out increase in the first two months of 2022 of around 30% year-on-year, a level above market growth expectations.
Hypera announced that it had a net profit of 353.1 million reais in the fourth quarter of last year, an increase of 12.1% over the same period in 2020.
Its net revenue totaled 1.626 billion reais, a growth of 43.3% over a year earlier, boosted by the purchase of Takeda’s operations. Without it, growth was 16.4%.
At the other end, marketing expenses grew 13.9%, but were diluted in relation to revenue due to synergy gains. And selling expenses dropped 5.4%, with lower spending on research and development.
The operating result measured by earnings before taxes, interest, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) of the so-called continuing operations was 566.9 million reais, a year-on-year increase of 62.4%. The margin was 34.9%, 4.1 percentage points higher, reflecting the dilution of expenses.
On the other hand, financial expenses almost doubled, to 134.6 million reais, as a result of the increase in debt, given that it bought Takeda’s operations, and also the higher interest rates.
