HS Helsinki | The classic bar ended in Katajanokka

Helsinki Oluthuone Poseidon, which operated in Katajanokka, has closed.

The place was temporarily closed last summer, but now the closure is final.

Like other restaurant companies, Oluthuone’s profitability suffered from extensive and long-lasting corona restrictions.

In the spring of 2022, the restrictions were eased, but Oluthune Poseidon did not know any relief.

“The shop is on the side of the street, and you can’t have a terrace on it. For reasons of profitability, we kept Oluthuone in the summer,” says the regional director of Hok-Elanton’s restaurants Satu Rytkönen.

The last staple the current lease for the place was due to expire at the end of the year.

“We came to the decision that after the summer we will no longer open at all,” says Rytkönen.

The shop located on Kruunuvuorenkatu served as a living room for the residents of the area for years. It was also playfully called “Pig”.
