HS Gallup | City dwellers are stingy for compensating for the increase in fuel prices, the majority in more remote areas are in favor

Among those who responded to HS’s survey, opinions about compensating for the increase in fuel prices were clearly determined by place of residence.

Finns opinions on compensating the fuel price increase are almost equally divided for and against.

In the HS-gallup, 39 percent of Finns think that the increase in the price of fuel should be compensated with public funds for fuel buyers. There are almost as many opponents, 36 percent. One in four does not know how to express his opinion.

Finns views are divided especially by place of residence.

About a third of those living in urban municipalities support compensating the increase in fuel prices for everyone.

On the other hand, slightly more than half of Finns living in municipalities in smaller urban areas and rural areas think that the increase should be compensated with public funds.

In the measurement, there was little difference between the answers of women and men.

Differences instead found between political positions.

Only one-fifth of the respondents who were most clearly on the left politically agreed with the statement, while almost half of the most right-wing respondents agreed.

As far as the parties are concerned, the most support can be found among the supporters of basic Finns, of whom almost 70 percent support compensation. About half of the supporters of the center were in favor of compensation. Supporters of the left and the greens are the most vocal, of whom only a little over ten percent supported compensation.

Fuel the price has risen significantly in the last year due to, among other things, the sanctions imposed on Russia.

Back in January, the price of the most common gasoline quality, i.e. 95-octane gasoline, was just under two euros per liter. In March, you had to pay about 2.3 euros per liter for the same amount of water.

Now the price is approximately 2.5 euros per liter.
