HS Analysis | Sdp has solid support for Marin, at least for now, but the atmosphere is also described as fearful

Sdp’s the summer meeting of the parliamentary group started on Wednesday even with exceptionally bright signs.

Party support has remained good considering that the Sdp is the prime minister’s party and the leadership of the country usually eats support.

There are hardly any significant controversies in the party, and the government also works moderately.

On Wednesday evening, however, the great atmosphere changed like cutting with a knife, when Iltalehti posted a videowhere the Prime Minister and the chairman of the Sdp Sanna Marin dances fast with many people known from the public.

Shortly after the video was released, Marin left the dinner with her assistants. The good atmosphere was on its way.

There was a commotion in the party: either again? Many asked why now.

Marin’s about celebrating we talked about it all last falland no one in the party would have wanted a repeat round.

SDP MPs know that Marin’s celebration can cause the party’s support to decline. This has not happened in previous celebrations, even though the media’s criticism of the celebrations has been massive.

Parliamentary elections are approaching, and the Sdp wants the party’s openings not to be drowned out by the long-lasting effervescence from Marin’s celebration.

Sdp knows very well that the party’s popularity depends too much on Marin. Without Marinia, Sdp’s support might even be lower than that of basic Finns.

Marin knows this too. It can lower Marin’s threshold to act in a way that easily leads to a discussion about the relationship between Marin’s personal activities and the prime minister’s institute.

Part Of the Sdp MPs interviewed by HS who participated in the summer meeting, many of them saw the publication of the video as an attack specifically against the Sdp.

This is justified by the fact that the publication took place during the meeting of an important parliamentary group for the party. At the meeting, the party did different things openingswho fell completely under the party hype.

The party went into defensive gear.

The value and moral considerations of Marin’s behavior were left halfway when the party began to protect its popular leader.

Set of values were, however, on display at the party’s internal meeting, but with their help Marin was not criticized but defended.

According to HS information, at least an MP Kimmo Kiljunen gave a speech in which it was considered dangerous if politicians give in to the voyeuristic public and begin to limit their behavior and human rights. Marin’s defense was seen as a defense of human rights in the age of social media.

Marin presented his own view of his celebration at the Sdn party meeting on Thursday. Those present described him as having taken the release of the video seriously, and he appeared mentally beaten and depressed.

Marin told MPs that she wanted to trust people in principle and said she was deeply disappointed that someone had made a video taken at a private event public.

He didn’t think he did anything wrong when he danced with his friends and their friends, even though a video of the party went public.

In background discussions some Sdp members wonder how Marin can even imagine that the videos about him are not spread, even if they are not supposed to be spread.

According to HS information, at the Thursday morning meeting of the parliamentary group, only the MP Jukka Gustafsson raised the question of Marin’s judgment. In the speech, it was also implied that Marin could choose her circle of party friends better.

The speech is described as a bit uncle-like for HS. Despite the critical remarks, Gustafsson’s speech was also clearly interpreted as a speech in support of Marin.

It is telling that, according to HS’s information, only three speeches were made at the meeting about the party noise, and later a few.

At least in one speech, Gustafsson’s question about the exhaustion of discretion was considered good, but this speech was also supportive of Marini.

Some of the group were surprised that there was hardly any criticism of the Prime Minister’s actions, even though in the fall of last year, many Sdp MPs expressed their frustration with the partying noises.

Prime minister Sanna Marin (sd) has the trust of the parliamentary group, said the chairman of the Sdp parliamentary group Antti Lindtman on Thursday after the meeting.

“Our group has confidence in the prime minister, there’s no doubt about that,” Lindtman said.

“If you dance with friends at a private event, I can’t see that there is a big problem.”

Also The support of the Sdp MPs interviewed by HS for Marin is steadfast. According to the interviewees, nothing illegal or even objectionable has been found at Marin’s party, but mostly wild dancing and singing.

The HS interviews were conducted on Thursday and Friday. Even in the interviews conducted on Friday, the support is just as solid, even on Friday morning Stop and Hymy published more descriptions of Marin’s party at the Teatteri restaurant.

According to newspaper sources, Marin appeared to be drunk. Marin was no longer on vacation at that time. “There shouldn’t be any more of these,” says one member of parliament.

Sdp’s there are certainly a lot of people in the electorate who would rather live without Marin’s party noises.

However, HS has not found anyone from the party’s decision-making elite who would even have the background to consider replacing Marin based on the current party information.

Sdp is like a band whose popularity depends mainly on the singer, who can pretty much mess around as long as he does his soloist job well.

One person also describes the atmosphere after Sdp’s shock video with the word “scary”. So there are people in the party who are afraid of what revelations will follow.

The message is that there is enough support, but it may end if, for example, illegalities are found. So far, there are no indications of any illegal activities by Marin.

The party knows that dozens of journalists are currently trying to find more information about the details of Marin’s celebration.

There is no shortage of sources, as Marin has moved very openly in public places such as festivals and clubs.
