Yesterday, Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, witnessed the first activities of the general program of the second edition of the Sharjah Architecture Triennial.
This event comes in the form of a dialogue meeting between Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi and curator of the Triennale, Tosi Oshino, entitled “Change, Adaptation, and the Possibilities of Contextual Architecture”, during which she presented a comprehensive overview of the concept she is discussing in the next session 2023, and the perception that will be reflected in the workers and programs presented. Throughout the Triennial, this session also details the preparations at Al Qasimia School, the headquarters of the Triennale.
It is noteworthy that the activities of the general program are free and available to all, and the first session of the Triennale focused on the rights of future generations and the solutions and alternatives that design and architecture can offer in order to redirect the discourse towards sustainability, based on methods produced by conditions of scarcity or different resources.
The Triennale comes under the slogan “Aesthetics of the Change: Adaptive Architecture” to give inspiration to contextual solutions and principles of resource sharing and waste reuse. A Nigerian designer and architect based in Lagos, founder and director of the design studio CMDesign, which she founded in 2012, Oshino has worked on a number of civil, commercial and residential architecture projects in Nigeria, and is known for her socially responsive approach to architecture, design and urbanization.
