Honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Vyacheslav Koloskov spoke on Wednesday, July 6, about a possible ban on broadcasting international competitions in Russia.
According to him, theoretically there is a danger of a ban on broadcasting competitions in Russia.
“After all, both the Champions League and the World Cup have sponsors. If they suddenly take a unified position, UEFA and FIFA will have no choice but to meet them halfway. But I don’t think it will come to that. So far, there has been no such practice. I don’t think this will happen, ”Koloskov said in an interview with RT.
Earlier in the day, Koloskov said whether there was a threat of exclusion of the RFU from the International Football Federation (FIFA). In his opinion, there is no such threat, writes “Sport-Express“.
Earlier, on July 3, it was reported that striker Chidera Ejuke and midfielder Arnor Sigurdsson suspended their contracts with the CSKA football club until June 30, 2023, writes REGNUM. The players did this unilaterally, using the FIFA amendment.
On March 7, FIFA allowed foreign players and coaches of Russian clubs to suspend contracts until June 30, 2022. On June 21, the organization allowed the players to suspend contracts until June 30, 2023.
The Russian Football Union (RFU) expressed its disagreement with this decision.
On February 28, FIFA and UEFA suspended national teams and clubs from the Russian Federation from participating in all competitions under the auspices of the organization. As the organizations assured, football will become a “vector of unity and peace between peoples” if the situation around Ukraine improves.
