Hockey Youth World Cup teams thrown out of the plane due to drunkenness and bad behavior – Blue and white outfit saved Finns from confusion

The Russian and Czech teams got out of the plane when the Lions set off on the return flight.

Young the World Hockey Championships ended this week due to the coronavirus that had spread in the tournament early in the series. Apparently, some of the team members unleashed their disappointment or celebrated the New Year so that they were no longer cared for on the return flight.

Editor of the Swedish broadcaster SVT Marie Lehmann says on Twitter that some Russian and Czech players were drunk and smoked tobacco.

In Canada, removing a face mask in public places is illegal. Despite this, some players refused to wear the mask.

The teams were scheduled to leave for home the night between Friday and Saturday, but the Russian and Czech teams were left waiting for a new return flight.

The Finnish team was also on a flight from Calgary to Frankfurt, but the Finns apparently did not cause any problems.

Czech team manager Otakar Černý tells about events Czech TV channel in the news.

According to Černý, the Czech team would not have behaved badly at the airport, but the airline staff confused the Russian and Czech teams.

“We arrived at Calgary Airport about three hours in advance. Our players went to buy souvenirs and some called their families home. Russian players, on the other hand, were seen sitting at the bar. I reminded our team that they wear face masks and safety gaps, ”says Černý.

According to Černý, other passengers complained about the behavior of the Russian players after the teams boarded the plane, and the whole plane was emptied.

It was difficult for the airline staff to distinguish between the players because the Czech and Russian players had similar gray sweatshirts.

“Then they told us that the Czech and Russian teams will no longer be on the flight,” Černý says.

According to Černý, the Finns’ blue-and-white costumes prevented possible confusion, and the Lions were allowed to board the plane.

“Although we explained to Air Canada that our players had not broken anything, the decision was not overturned. They offered us a hotel and a flight to Frankfurt at the same time a day later,” says Černý.
