Activision Blizzard intends to gradually shut down development on Heroes of the Storm: this does not mean that there will be no support for the game, as it will continue without problems, but large-caliber updates will no longer be foreseen and probably great content coming in the next period.
The slowdown in work on Heroes of the Storm, on the other hand, has been underway for some years already, and activities have dropped especially starting from 2020. With an official statement, Blizzard reported that it has no plans for other additions in terms of contents for the game, at least not in terms of large expansions, thus limiting itself to standard support with playlist rotation, possible events and obviously corrective and improvement patches.
In essence, this is the same situation as StarCraft and StarCraft II, which continue to be played and supported but without active development in terms of new content, DLC and expansions for a few years now.
“Heroes and its community are home to some of the most passionate players in the world, and we are always striving to make sure everyone enjoys the adventures through the Nexus,” Blizzard said in a state of play release.
“Going forward, we will continue to support Heroes in a similar way to what we do with other long-running games, such as StarCraft and StarCraft II. “
