Harvey Weinstein, already sentenced to 23 years, risks another 140
A new trial against the jury opens today – Monday 10 October – in Los Angeles, with the selection of the jury Harvey Weinsteinthe former Hollywood producer already sentenced to 23 years in prison in New York for a series of sex offenses.
Now the seventy-year-old, who had such hits as “Pulp Fiction”faces 11 more charges in a two-month trial.
In case of conviction, Harvey Weinstein – who has pleaded not guilty on all counts – could be sentenced to another 140 years behind bars.
The widespread allegations of sexual abuse and harassment against Harvey Weinstein exploded in October 2017 and his New York conviction in 2020 was a milestone of #MeToo movement. Last June, the founder of Miramax lost the request for the cancellation of the conviction for sexual crimes.
He was also charged separately by British prosecutors for sexual assault on a woman in London in 1996. In total, nearly 90 women, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Salma Hayekthey accused Harvey Weinstein of harassment or assault.
