Hapvida recorded an adjusted net profit of R$330.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, an increase of 104.8% compared to the same period in 2022. In the unadjusted criterion, the company had a loss of R$29.9 million, a value 90.6% lower than the same range in the previous year.
Adjusted EBITDA was R$949.7 million, an increase of 85.7% year-on-year. This value excludes the positive impact of the reimbursement of expenses related to the acquisition of Promed and Premium. The Ebitda margin was 13.7%, an increase of 4.5 percentage points on the same basis.
Net revenue totaled R$6.9 billion between October and December last year, an increase of 6.7%.
In the year, Hapvida's adjusted net profit increased 38.3% compared to 2022, to R$846.2 million. Adjusted Ebitda reached R$2.932 billion, an increase of 47.6%, while net revenue reached R$27.4 billion, an increase of 10.1%.
The financial result totaled a net expense of R$306.5 million at the end of the year, a reduction of 17.5% compared to the third quarter and 40.6% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.
Net debt went from R$7.1 billion at the end of 2022 to R$4.79 billion at the end of 2023, which represents a reduction of 32.5%, ending the year with a leverage of 1.38 times the ratio of net debt to adjusted EBITDA, compared to leverage of 2.45 times in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Operational
Hapvida ended the fourth quarter of 2023 with 87 hospitals, 77 emergency care units, 339 clinics and 293 imaging diagnostic and laboratory collection units, totaling 796 own care units.
Throughout the year, 17 units were added from the acquisition of HB Saúde and 32 new units distributed throughout Brazil, including 3 new hospitals in key regions.
The number of health plan beneficiaries at the end of December showed a reduction of 3%, from 9.138 million to 8.864 million, with an average consolidated monthly ticket varying from R$ 231.6 to R$ 256.5, an increase of 10.8 % in the fourth quarter compared to the same quarter in 2022.
In dental plans, Hapvida saw an increase of 0.9% in the number of beneficiaries, from 6.934 million to 6.994 million. The average monthly ticket increased by 7.2%, from R$9.7 to R$10.4.
