The Board of Directors of “Hamdan Sports Complex”, which falls under the umbrella of the Dubai Sports Council, held its first meeting after being reconstituted by the decision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.
The meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Dubai Sports Council, was chaired by Ahmed Muhammad Al Shafar, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and was attended by Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Vice President, and members: Maher Abdul Karim Julfar, Badr Ahmed Anwahi, Tariq Abdul Rahman Al Saleh, and Saleh Al Marzouqi, Director of the Institutional Support Department at the Dubai Sports Council. and Abdullah Shahdad, director of the complex.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Directors expressed his thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, for his confidence in them and entrusting them with the task of managing this great sports edifice, which has reached fame all over the world and has become a forum for world champions in swimming and various other sports. It is designed and implemented to be eligible to host global, international and national sporting events and tournaments.
The meeting was held on October 10, which is the twelfth anniversary of the inauguration of the complex, which was officially inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai in 2010. During these years, the complex hosted hundreds of tournaments and events in various sports and attracted Tens of thousands of athletes of different nationalities.
It also hosted training camps for major international teams in various sports in preparation for the Olympics and world championships, as well as individual training camps for a number of world and Olympic champions, including the Danish Victor Eklixen, who prepared in the complex for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and after winning the gold medal in badminton, he decided to settle in Dubai and continue Training in preparation for upcoming tournaments, including the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The meeting reviewed the work plan during the coming period and the list of the many events and tournaments that the complex will host, as well as the various sports academies programs that are based in the complex and the training of their athletes that continue daily and throughout the year.
A list of the camps of foreign clubs and teams that wish to train in the complex in preparation for the upcoming tournaments, particularly the Paris 2024 Olympics, was also reviewed.
It was emphasized in the meeting to continue to work according to the principle of optimal investment of resources, as well as to enhance the great international position of the complex, and to attract more international, regional and local championships that contribute to the development of sports and enhance Dubai’s position on the world sports map.
