The classic sterile controversy also affects the Halo TV series.
As happens for now everything on the face of this planet, even the “new” Cortana of the TV series dedicated to Halo it has generated some controversy, simply because it is not blue. Priority. These are obviously stylistic but also functional choices, given that we are talking about a very different media from a video game and that requires different rules.
This is what the creators of the series also explained, trying to create a more “tangible” Master Chief companion. From an interview on GamesRadar +we understand from Kiki Wolfkillhead of the studio at 343 and executive producer of Halo, the reason for the choice:
“It’s so much fun, because we change its design for each game. And a lot of that is technology-driven. A lot of the design changes across generations of games were due to the fact that we had access to better graphics, technology, more pixels, and more effects. And so it was always about adapting Cortana to the environment.“
“In this situation, it is very different from games in that it has to feel ‘real’“, Wolfkill continued.”And by that, I don’t mean feeling like a real human. She has to feel like a real AI, a real hologram and be a character that real people are acting against … Was that really the momentum in designing her ─ how do we make her feel very tangible in this Halo world?“
Jen Taylorthe voice of Cortana both in the games and in the TV series, has obviously expressed itself on the story:
“I understand why people are protective of that original design. I’m curious to see how it is received [il nuovo]. I’m interested in seeing something different and seeing something new. [L’IA ha] different goals than the Cortana we’ve known over the past 20 years“.
