There Sprint Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe championship had officially known, at the end of Race-1 held on Saturday afternoon, the winners of this year’s season: Charles Weerts and Chris Vanthoor, both in their third world center, as well as the third in a row. To celebrate this milestone in the best possible way, the Belgian couple of the WRT team ended this season by crossing the finish line first in Race-2 on the ‘Ricardo Tormo’ circuit of Valenciawinning the victory thanks to a strategy as risky as it was guessed.
After an initial phase of the race characterized by rain, the two Audi standard bearers opted for the slick tires just as the track was slowly drying up, catching up and getting the better of it Aurelien Panis-Patric Niederhausen own on the last lap. In the fight between the two Audi, the Mercedes of Timur Bogulavskyi and Raffaele Marciello, third under the checkered flag. However, despite the lack of victory, for the Italian-Swiss driver there is still a great consolation: also thanks to this result, the 28-year-old from Zurich graduated absolute champion PRO 2022thus redeeming himself from the defeat of the Pro Cup championship lost to Weerts-Vanthoor.

In this way, for Marciello it is the second title overall conquered in the Sprint Cup, four years after the one obtained in 2018. In a difficult championship for the number 46 of Valentino Rossi-Frederic Vervischforced to withdraw after a disappointing 11th in Race-1, the Sprint Cup also elected the winners of the last series that remained pending until the last race, namely those of the Silver Cup: while finishing off the podium, math smiles at Thomas Neubauer and Benjamin Goethealso color bearers of the WRT team in their own series.
