The retail versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X from Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition could arrive in stores only in 2022, clearly lagging behind those for old-gen consoles.
At least this is what the sources of the Polish site report EPP (Street VGC), which state that the collection with the remasters of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas will actually be made available in physical edition, but that only those for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One will arrive in stores before Christmas, to be precise on December 7th. Those for PS5 and Xbox Series X, as mentioned at the beginning, instead will arrive only in the course of 2022, again according to PPE.
This applies to retail copies only. As announced by Rockstar, the PC and all console versions of GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition will be available before the end of the year. Furthermore, according to what was reported by the well-known insider Tom Henderson, the release of the game, at least in digital version, could be well before December 7th.
Staying on the subject, according to the list prices of Base.com, the next-gen retail versions of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be sold at a higher price than the oldgen ones.
In any case, at the moment it is impossible to verify the veracity of this indiscretion, so we are waiting for the official announcement of Rockstar Games on the precise release date of the collection, which, barring surprises, should take place on October 22, the day on which GTA 3 will celebrate. its 20th anniversary since launch.
Meanwhile, via the Steam reviews, fans are suggesting to purchase the original versions of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas, before they are permanently removed from Rockstar Games.
