Grey’s anatomy has premiered its season 18 a few months ago. The long-running and successful medical drama has structured its story in such a way that we have seen not only the departure of iconic characters, but also the return of some who were already dead, such as Dr. Derek Sheperd (Patrick Dempsey).
With each renewal, fans were connecting with old and new roles. However, Ellen Pompeo, like Meredith Gray, has been around since the show’s inception, back in 2015, when she released her first installment. However, the weight of routine seems to have increased over the years for its protagonist.

In an interview with the Insider portal, in the middle of the promotion for his company Betr Way, Pompeo confessed that he has been focusing his efforts on persuading the directors of Grey’s Anatomy to conclude their production, because he believes that they have exploited so many edges of his role who do not know how they will conduct their narrative.
“I’ve tried to focus on convincing everyone that it should end. I feel like I’m the super naive one who keeps saying: ‘But what’s the story going to be, what story are we going to tell? And everyone says, ‘Who cares, Ellen? It makes millions of dollars, ‘”he said.

With these statements, the actress confirms that the main motivation for extending the plot of the program so much is money. This has been supported by the acceptable ratings that the title has garnered, despite the fact that his time on TV is close to reaching 20 years.
If Ellen Pompeo wishes to close her cycle on Grey’s Anatomy, it is unlikely that the series will continue issuing new chapters; furthermore, it has not yet been renewed for a nineteenth season. The latter seems to be in the hands of the scriptwriters and their imagination to continue to attract viewers with unexpected twists of the screw.
