Ecologist and head of the forestry department of Greenpeace Russia Alexei Yaroshenko considered the version of the State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Valery Rashkin that he found a dead elk carcass in the forest and was taking it to the police as strange. He said that it is necessary at the legislative level to prohibit high-ranking officials from hunting, since there have been too many incidents like the one that happened to the parliamentarian lately. Yaroshenko said this in an interview with Lenta.ru.
Earlier, Valery Rashkin said that he saw the carcass of a dead elk and wanted to hand it over to the police. This is how he explained the discovery of the animal in the trunk of his car in an interview with RTVI.
According to Rashkin, he went to the Saratov region to see friends and went for a walk in the forest alone. Later I saw a familiar car that was leaving, flashing lights. “I went to this place and found a moose. Almost cut moose. I returned to the guys, stirred up one friend (they drank tea well there), suggested that they take an elk and take it to the police, ”the deputy said.
At present, law enforcement officers, as Rashkin noted, are turning everything upside down, as if he had killed an elk.
According to Yaroshenko, he was skeptical about the version voiced by Rashkin. “In theory, of course, everything could have happened. An elk fell from the moon, accidentally crashed, and then again a deputy. In theory, everything happens. His version, of course, seems strange to me, ”said the ecologist.
He added that there have been too many scandals related to illegal hunting lately involving high-ranking officials. Yaroshenko said that the situation has acquired a socially significant level and it needs to be solved with the help of amendments to the law.
“We have so many scandals with high officials and hunting lately that it seems to me that hunting should be, let’s say, in the list of contraindications for statesmen and public figures. Simply because there are too many problems. For example, in the United States there is such a law, it is quite tough and arose from approximately the same incidents. It was about a hundred years ago, ”said a Greenpeace specialist.
He also noted that due to the passion of many officials for hunting, laws related to this activity are quite easily adopted by the State Duma. “Hunting amendments to the legislation, as we see, slip through very easily. We do not pass laws that need to be adopted for a long time, but if hunters need something, for example, to allow open-air hunting, this is easily solved. It seems to me that the problem of hunting lobbyism has become completely intolerable, it needs to be addressed somehow, ”the ecologist summed up.
On Friday night, October 29, the car of the State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Valery Rashkin was stopped in the Saratov region by a policeman with an employee of the local hunting committee. A dead elk was found in the trunk. Later, a criminal case was opened under the article on illegal hunting in the region.
