Today a new gameplay of Gotham Knights, which gave us our first official look at Nightwing and Red Hood, two of the four playable characters in this installment. Nevertheless, what caught the most attention is that this title will be an exclusive of the new generation.
Originally, Gotham Knights was going to come to PS4 and Xbox One. However, at the end of the gameplay that was shared today, it was confirmed that the previous generation versions have been removed. At the moment the specific reason behind this decision was not revealed. This was what was mentioned about it:
“Please note that in order to provide players with the best possible gaming experience, the game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC and will not be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles.”
Although Warner Bros. has mentioned that the removal of the PS4 and Xbox One version was taken to provide the best possible experiencethis is likely mainly due to the production costs required to create previous generation versions.
With this, the number of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S available in the market is much less compared to PS4 and Xbox One. Although the fan base is still on PC, this decision is likely to have repercussions on the expected sales of the game. As if that were not enough, we must not forget that Hogwarts Legacy, another Warner Bros. title, will reach all consoles, including the Switch.
Gotham Knights It will arrive on PS5, Xbox Series X | S and PC on October 25, 2022. In related topics, you can check the gameplay of this game here.
Editor’s note:
While it’s time for more and more companies to bring us exclusive next-gen games, it’s strange to see a property like Batman not available to everyone. These will be decisions that will be more common from 2023.
