The Russian invasion of Ukraine has prompted Germany to increase its defense spending to more than two percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) annually. That is more than what NATO is asking for, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said at a special session of the Bundestag in Berlin on Sunday.
