According to the father, the daughter had been a kind child who regularly visited the residents of the nursing home. However, her daughter, Dual Life, radicalized on her travels to the Frankfurt Mosque and eventually joined a total of more than a thousand Germans who left Syria and Iraq from 2011 to join Isis.

Messing’s case became well-known in Germany because her father allowed the northern German broadcaster NDR to monitor her contact with her daughter for about four years. In this way, thousands of messages between father and daughter were made public.

They are said to have provided more information about the lives of the Isis wives and also about Messing’s decision to leave the Isis-ruled areas.

He ended up in a Kurdish-controlled camp in northern Syria. At this point, she was already the mother of two little daughters.

The Kurds arrested Martin Lemken in 2019, his other wives told AFP.

Brass arrived in Germany in December 2020 in an operation that took a total of 54 people from the camps – mainly children and their mothers. At the time, he was arrested at Frankfurt Airport but later released.

It is estimated that there are still 61 Germans in the camps and about 30 people with close ties to Germany.
