Genoa – It was held yesterday in Genoa, in piazza Loading, the last of the six days of the Prevention Paths project of the “Caravan of Prevention” of Komen Italia, promoted by Autostrade per l’Italia.
The Project supports the Caravan of Prevention, the National Itinerant Program for the Promotion of Women’s Health which has the patronage of the Municipality of Genoa for this stage. The program was launched in 2017 by Komen Italia in collaboration with the Gemelli Irccs University Polyclinic Foundation, and this year also made use of the support of Autostrade per l’Italia which has been involved for years in the fight against breast cancer, one of the most widespread diseases. for women. The Prevention Paths project started in the summer in Rome and Florence and continued in September in Naples and ended yesterday in Genoa. This initiative is only the latest in a series of actions implemented by Aspi throughout the country, driven by the awareness of the need to “network” and the social responsibility that every large company has towards its citizens.
During the two Genoese days they were over one hundred services offered, including mammograms for women over 40 and ultrasound scans for women under 40. In case of suspicious evidence following the screening tests, the patients were referred to local medical facilities. In all, the tour saw over 300 screenings made.
The Caravan of Prevention of Komen Italy from 2017 to today has offered 35,000 medical services free of charge in 16 Italian regions, carrying out prevention days aimed mainly at territories and communities most in difficulty. Thanks to the use of four Mobile Units equipped with latest generation technological equipment, the Caravan is able to offer clinical-instrumental tests useful not only for the early diagnosis of breast cancers, but also of other cancers prevalent in women. Prevention opportunities are offered primarily to women living in uncomfortable conditions or who belong to categories of increased risk for breast cancer, such as women residing in suburban neighborhoods, prisoners, workers in the sector or women housed in reception centers.
