After Jan Böhmermann’s allegations of fraud, Fynn Kliemann presents himself as a victim of a conspiracy. But his actual message is quite different.
Frankfurt – Since then the editors of the ZDF Magazine Royale around Jan Böhmermann allegations of fraud against Fynn Kliemann has made public, the influencer sporadically comments on Instagram about the situation. At the beginning, his statements were carefully formulated and read. Most recently, he tried to limit the damage by announcing donations. Now Kliemann speaks up in an approximately three-minute Instagram story that strikes completely different tones. He tries to use his own scandal to promote the giant Kliemannsland project.
had in early May Jan Böhmermann in its ZDF-Broadcast allegations that Fynn Kliemann and his business partner Tom Illbruck corona– would have bought protective masks from Bangladesh and Vietnam in order to then sell them on as fair and produced in Europe. In addition, a public donation of 100,000 masks to refugees is said to have been defective goods. Since then, Kliemann has faced fierce criticism and a criminal complaint for these and other allegations. The entrepreneur himself had apologized for errors in communication, but rejected specific allegations.
Fynn Kliemann comments on criticism after allegations of fraud: “I should be destroyed”
In his new video, Kliemann adopts less diplomatic tones. Rather, he portrays himself as the victim of a media campaign that would exploit his story in a biased manner. His statements take on conspiracy ideological tones when it comes to public broadcasting, for which he has produced videos for a long time: “You made me big with public money, then I didn’t make a difference, and I’m supposed to use the same money now be destroyed again,” says Kliemann while filming himself walking around a workroom. However, the actual message of the video only emerges at the end.
In his Instagram story, Kliemann claims that he and Kliemannsland are being criticized for not adhering to the rules of the “woken left scene”. “There’s a world out there that just can’t accept that we’re somehow different,” he says later in the video. Referring to the editors of the ZDF magazine Roayle, he claims that they believe they can decide how other people live their lives. He ultimately uses this narrative, in which Kliemann portrays himself as a victim, to advertise Kliemannsland, a converted riding stable that the entrepreneur has been using for creative projects of all kinds since 2016.
Controversial mask deals: Fynn Kliemann sees himself in the victim role
“If you also think like this and if you need a break from everyday life with all its rules, and especially if you’ve made a mistake before, then come by,” Kliemann makes his message clear. The Instagram story ends with an excerpt from another video that had just been published on the Kliemannsland’s YouTube channel. It claims that the project distances itself from Kliemann. The influencer himself also draws attention to the supposed separation between himself and the project: “You are welcome in Kliemannsland, just as you are, even if you don’t like me. Kliemannsland is just so much more than just me,” he says at the end of his monologue.
So while Kliemann wants to focus on his lifestyle to promote his once-popular project, the actual allegations are dismissed. It has been proven that he did not sell masks from Bangladesh. He also “honestly apologized” for his mistakes and “learned an incredible amount from it”. Whether the influencer will continue his new narrative remains to be seen. In court, however, this should have little effect. (vbu)
