Anyone who has seen at least once an action film on the big and small screen will have come across at least once the elusive AK-47, assault rifle that made known the Russian company Kalashnikov. Perhaps not many know, however, that the company from the East about 3 years ago decided to differentiate its business by developing a series of electric car prototypes. The Kalashnikov Izh UV-4 for example, an EV unveiled 3 years ago in the form of a prototype that in recent months would have made important steps towards entry into production after the Russian company filed some new patents that include both. a traditional version than a micro-car variant with two doors and three wheels.
Kalashnikov’s history with electric cars began in 2018 when the company unveiled the Electric CV-1 Concept. At the time, the company had had the audacity to say that the launch of this car would allow the brand to even compete with Tesla. The CV-1 was also added the Izh UV-4 electric prototype, complete with a taxi variant that was presented in 2019 in Moscow. The Russian Patent Office has unveiled images of what could be road versions of the UV-4, with a design that brings it closer to the Renault Twizy, albeit with a larger tonnage. The military look is strongly marked even with compact shapes: the length stands at 3.4 meters, for a width of 1.5 meters and a height of 1.7 meters while the weight would be reduced to 650 kg. The equipment should be particularly minimal, while still including air conditioning, a digital instrument panel, the display for the infotainment system and adjustable suspension.
The powertrain is expected to unleash an output of 50 kW, approximately 68 hp, allowing a maximum speed of 80 km / h. Kalashnikov did not provide any data on the battery capacity or on the range of travel with a single charge but if you take into account the specifications of the 2019 concepts, the autonomy should be around 150 km. As for the micro-car version, there is an even more essential style, with the car that has no doors and leaves the cockpit exposed. The style is very similar to the UV-4 although it features a sunroof and only two seats, with a luggage compartment.
