The story of Flavio Briatore in Formula 1 he abruptly ended in 2009, a year after he was found guilty of the scandal ‘Crashgate’ which took place during the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. The former team principal of Benetton and Renault, in fact, was initially disbarred for life for having ordered his driver, Nelson Piquet Jr, to voluntarily impact against the barriers in order to create the regime of Safety Car and to favor the victory of his teammate, Fernando Alonso. The sanction was subsequently revised by the FIA ​​Sports Court in 2010, with the disqualification of Briatore which was revoked from 2012 onwards.

Since then, however, the Piedmontese manager has no longer played any official role in the top racing series. Thirteen years later, however, this long absence from the Circus could end. In fact, Briatore would be ready to cover a advisory post for Formula 1 and not within a team.
