Yamaha Motor Europe presents with Switch ON a number of future electric models, especially in the segment of the urban mobility: mopeds, scooters and e-bikes.
Initially we can expect two new electric Yamaha scooters. The NEO’s is an equivalent of a 50cc and will be launched in the coming weeks. And then there is also a provisionally unnamed large scooter (125cc equivalent) that will be deployed in one of the European ‘scooter capitals’ (think Paris, Rome, Milan…) for the next two to three years in collaboration with a partner in scooter sharing. the experiences are included in the final production of the model.
In addition, Yamaha will also present the B01, a new hybrid prototype that combines eBike S-Pedelec functionality with moped performance and is suitable for urban use. The B01 is still a concept model from Yamaha Motor Europe in collaboration with long-term partners Fantic Motor and Motori Minarelli; but it is the intention that the B01 grows into a production machine.
What we especially remember from the video below with Yamaha Motor Europe CEO Eric de Seynes (one of our favorite bigwigs in the motorcycle world since we saw him at work at the ACEM conference) is that there is a clear focus on urban mobility and that for the time being no mention is made of motorcycles. In that regard, our hopes secretly rest in that other Yamaha project…
