Next month it will also progressively lift other restrictions to prevent covid-19 infections, although the vaccination certificate will be required
French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced this Thursday the schedule for a progressive lifting in February of some of the health restrictions to prevent cases of covid-19 currently in force in France. The French government had imposed them at the end of December to try to stop the wave of infections by the omicron variant.
The Executive chaired by Emmanuele Macron has made this decision after verifying an improvement in the indicators of the pandemic and a few days before the vaccination certificate comes into effect to be able to enter certain public places. However, France is one of the countries with the highest contagion pressure in the EU, with a cumulative incidence (AI) of 4,047 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days.
Despite this, as of February 2, the mask will no longer be mandatory outdoors. From that same day, the French will no longer be forced to telework three days a week. That date will also mark the end of capacity in establishments that welcome a seated public, but the use of the mask inside will be maintained.
As of February 16, the consumption of food and drink will be authorized again in stadiums, cinemas and transport, as well as standing in bars. The French will also be able to attend concerts standing up and go dancing in discos.
91% vaccinated
The French Government continues to bet on vaccines and the vaccination certificate as tools to fight the pandemic. French adolescents aged 12 to 17 will be able to receive the booster dose of the covid vaccine from January 24, Castex announced. 91% of French adults already have a complete regimen and 62% have received the third dose, he specified.
The vaccination certificate, approved by Parliament and pending the green light of the Constitutional Council, will enter into force on January 24. The prime minister recalled that those over 16 must present this document, on paper or digitally, to go to bars, restaurants, gyms, cinemas, museums and theaters, for example.
Those not vaccinated will be banned from entering these public establishments. Currently, the unvaccinated have access by presenting a negative PCR or antigen test of less than 24 hours.
